Honda of South Carolina expanding manufacturing facility
Honda of South Carolina Manufacturing, Inc., a company that specializes in the manufacturing of world-class all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and side-by-side (SxS) vehicles, is expanding its Florence County manufacturing facility. The company is investing $45 million in the project, resulting in the creation of 250 new jobs over the next few years.
Honda's Timmonsville plant is one of the company's 19 major manufacturing facilities in North America. Honda of South Carolina is the sole production facility for Honda ATVs and SxS vehicles in the region, and associates there have produced more than three million products since it opened its doors in 1998.
In August 2015, Honda announced a $42 million investment, facilitating the addition of two new product lines - the Pioneer 1000 and Pioneer 1000-5. This latest $45 million project will allow the company to grow its facility by approximately 115,000 square-feet in order to meet increased customer demand for side-by-side production.
Anticipated to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2019, this expansion is also expected to generate 250 new jobs. Hiring for those positions has begun and will continue throughout the next several years. Those interested in joining the Honda of South Carolina team should visit the company's job postings page online. For more information on the company, visit www.hondaofsouthcarolina.com.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
