Wyman-Gordon, a manufacturer of large titanium and super alloy forgings for the aerospace and power generation markets, announced today that it will establish a manufacturing operation in Dillon County. The investment is expected to create more than 400 new jobs over the next five years.

South Carolina Lieutenant Governor J. Yancey McGill the chairman of the North Eastern Strategic Alliance executive committee said the announcement demonstrates the region's ability to provide a quality business environment within the aerospace industry.

This is a momentous day for our region, McGill said. It's great to not only see such a high number of great jobs being added to the region, but to see our region as a part of one of the world's most important industry clusters the southeastern United States aerospace cluster is even more significant. Our region is capable of winning projects in one of the most competitive industrial environments in the world.

Greg Paolini, Wyman-Gordon's vice president and general manager said, We were attracted to the overall business environment in South Carolina. Our new facility will be located in the center of a rapidly growing aerospace sector with easy access to highways, ports, and, most importantly, many of our customers.

The company will be locating in the recently finished Dillon County Spec Building, which was constructed in a cooperative effort by Dillon County and Marlboro Electric Cooperative. Located just off of Interstate 95 and west of the city of Dillon in the Northeastern Commerce Center, the building provides a logistical leverage as well as a ready-to-use facility.

The company will be utilizing the region's workforce training facilities at Northeastern Technical College as well as the metal working training available at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology.

Senator Kent Williams said the announcement shows the level of cooperation that's prevalent throughout the region and what it's able to accomplish when fully embraced.

For our district, this is a great day, Williams said. Were extremely excited to have this announcement and to know that Dillon County is making a step in the right direction. The creation of this many jobs and the investment of this much capital into our community is something weve all worked long and hard for and now, we get to see the results.

Dillon County Administrator Clay Young said the announcement is a great sign for the county's economy and the company will be an anchor to the region's economy for years to come.

This is a major announcement for Dillon County, Young said. We have a company in Wyman-Gordon that is going to be a tremendous asset to the county not just in the short term with the number of jobs created and initial capital investment, but as a corporate partner for the foreseeable future.
